Iory at the Club Crazy between his New York and
Hollywood agents, Cherice and Tata
Iory Allison is a writer, interior designer,
antiquarian, and world traveler. He lives in Boston, Massachusetts
with his main squeeze, Leo Romero. After a long and delightful run
of thirty years the two love doves tied the knot on May 10th, 2007 at the
Boston City Hall and now they are husband and husband. Iory is the
nickname for Iorwerth, who was an eleventh-century Welsh prince, and
also the name of Iory's great uncle. It is pronounced "Yory" or "Yorwerth".
Always on the prowl for the truth in fiction Iory
has befriended a string of egotists over the years because they
simply can’t shut up and he is a sucker for a good story. This has,
on a few occasions, led to some minor fracases when these same
“characters” neglect to reciprocate his indulgent attentions even to
a modest degree, coming down on the poor slob like a ton of bricks
if he tries to get a word in edgewise. Not to be outdone by these
pushy Queens, the term is used here generically regardless as to
gender or sexual orientation, Iory is determined to be heard.
Towards that goal he has labored long crafting his trilogy with much
the same intent as Tolstoy and Danielle Steel with a soupçon of
Armistead Maupin thrown in for credibility.
Our author is now engaged in finishing the third
book of his trilogy, The Mermaid and the Sailor, a project that has
stretched over several summers necessitating frequent visits to
Provincetown that outpost of gay romance where, pressing his ear to
the ground, he gathers snippets of gossip which can be patched
together into that volatile phenomenon called a love story.
